Cuvée: Rosé 2006

Maurice Barnouin
55% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 15% Cinsault
Country: France
Region: Costières de Nîmes

Domaine de Gournier is owned by Maurice Barnouin.
Located on the western edge of the Rhône Valley,
north of the city of Nîmes, the area geography is a
combination of low limestone hills, studded with
outcroppings of calcareous rock, and sparse
vegetation. The Barnouin family began as pepinierists,
or vine clone experts. Maurice’s now- 200 hectare
estate is planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon,
Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre, as well as
Chardonnay, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc. The
terrific bottling of Rosé from Domaine de Gournier is a
blend of principally 55% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 15%
Cinsault. The fruit is harvested expressly to craft rosé,
and is vinified in stainless steel tanks to optimize the
primary flavors of the grapes. Brightly colored, the
explosive red berry fruits in the nose and on the palate
are accented by notes of spice & a touch of earth.
Fresh and lively, this beautiful dry Provençal-style Rosé
is a great addition to the already well recognized
Domaine de Gournier line up.
